Pantone Colour of 2023: Viva Magenta

As the year draws to a close and we take our tentative first steps towards 2023 and whatever it may hold in store, the colour experts at Pantone have announced their colour for 2023: Viva Magenta – a beautifully bold shade of red that finds the perfect balance between warm and cool tones for ultimate impact.

Described by Pantone as an “unconventional shade for an unconventional time”, Viva Magenta is a fitting shade for the future. It is a rich shade of crimson that “encourages experimentation and self-expression without restraint”.

At the end of the day, isn’t that what our homes are? Extensions of us – a way to express ourselves. The colour of 2023 allows us to be truly creative but there’s no denying that it’s a tricky shade to incorporate.

Red is, after all, a vibrant colour that is often been associated with abstract connotations of danger, courage, love, and passion. These are all powerful sensations that have the potential to overwhelm and the same is true when it comes to interior design, but it is important to note that this particularly lavish shade of red is “assertive, not aggressive” so when used correctly, Viva Magenta has the potential to uplift your space with a bold pop of colour.

Below are our favourite ways to bring Pantone’s colour of 2023 into our homes.

Make a statement

One of the best ways to introduce a new colour to your living space is through statement walls or furniture. Rather than overwhelming your space with colour, this allows you to inject your colour of choice into one object or area for a more understated sense of style that is equally effective.

Our top pick for statement furniture in any setting is our stunning range of Cayenne Lingbao furniture. With strong oriental influence and vibrant red colouring, each piece in the range brings a unique style that elevates in an instant and with a range of styles and sizes, there is sure to be something to suit everyone.

Be bold with colourful seating

Whether you’re styling the living room or bedroom, utilising colourful seating against a more neutral backdrop is a guaranteed way to brighten up your space. Our range of Pols Potten furniture, in particular, evokes a sense of playfulness with their quirky and vibrant designs – the burgundy red Puff Lounge Pouffe and the coral Fist Chair are some of our favourites. Both choices bring a sense of dynamic energy to your living room or even a reading nook.

If you’re after something a little more subtle, why not take a look at our lovely range of red stools? Not only can they be moved around and stashed away to suit your needs, but they are entirely versatile filling the role of both seat and footrest. Whether you want a bold pop of colour or something with hand-painted detail, something is sure to catch your eye.

Accessorise with pops of colour

For those who aren’t ready to take the plunge with larger furniture or want to add a splash of red without changing their entire interior, we also have a collection of suitable accessories.

We have several cushion covers that feature a bold pop of red, so why not take a gander? They’re the perfect way to dress your sofa or armchair, breathing a touch of vibrancy into your décor without overpowering what is already there. If you’re after something more decorative – something that will stand out on a mantlepiece or console – why not consider our crimson bead necklace or the coral-red Qilin Statue from Pols Potten?

Here at Shropshire Design, we are proud to offer a wide variety of flawless products from some of the biggest and best brands in the industry. By analysing and predicting current and future trends, we meticulously curate extensive ranges of some of the most stylish and up-to-date products at reasonable prices (see our price-beating guarantee) so why not uplift your space with something from our range of products in Viva Magenta?
